VA Spotlight: Meet Alvin
Alvin is an Amazon Account Manager virtual assistant (VA) who has been working with 20four7VA since 2016. He oversees the day-to-day operations, management of sales and listings, product selection improvement, and quality and convenience across the Amazon seller network for his client. 20four7VA provided him with his first client and first-ever work from home opportunity, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Here’s what Alvin has to say about his life before and after 20four7VA and how becoming a virtual assistant changed his life.
What was life like before working for 20four7VA?
I was working for a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing company) before. I actually left my team lead role there because of a proximity issue: I’m residing in Bulacan and I’m working in Pasig (roughly 25 miles away), so it takes me two hours to go to work and another two hours to go home.
What made you decide to become a virtual assistant?
At first, I was hesitant to try working from home because I didn’t know if it was stable. But luckily, after I resigned from the BPO, I was hired by 20four7VA. In less than a week, I was able to get a client, and that’s the same client I’ve been working with until now.
What makes 20four7VA different?
Stability-wise, the company and the client relationship is stable. Where else can I go? I think 20four7VA is the best place.
What are the top 3 benefits of working for 20four7VA?
When you’re about to log in, you can prepare 15 minutes before your login time, unlike when you’re working at an office, I had to prepare three hours — one hour for prep and two hours for the travel time.
Second is the flexibility. You can spend more time with your family. Before, with my first-born, I thought that she was growing too fast. But when I started working from home, and my second child came out, I realized that they were not really growing fast. We’re just too busy making a living, so we don’t give much attention to the life that we make.
The third one is, of course, the compensation. Before, when I was working with a BPO, even though I had a team lead role, the compensation was not that high compared with 20four7VA. Here, you’re working from home, you have less expenses (e.g. the travel and food expenses). By working for 20four7VA, you save a lot.
What is your favorite part about working for 20four7VA?
The company stability and the career growth. 20four7VA is actually flexible when it comes to career growth. They are always repromoting a VA to a different client or a different role whenever they see potential from a VA.
Also, open communication. You can actually talk to the higher-ups directly without holding back. That’s one of the best practices that I see here in 20four7VA.
