VA Spotlight: Sherie
Meet Sherie, a quality assurance analyst supporting a client in the construction industry. Her journey highlights a powerful truth: the importance of taking that crucial first step. When you start and trust in your abilities, the rest often falls into place.
Let’s hear more from Sherie!
What difficulties did you experience in your work life before you joined 20four7VA?
Sherie: To be honest, my main difficulty was the salary. While I’m grateful for my previous jobs, the salary just wasn’t enough to support my family. So I treated those jobs as stepping stones to gain skills and knowledge while waiting for my opportunity in the virtual assistant industry.
Another difficulty was the work setup; I prefer working from home over a hybrid or face-to-face arrangement. Working from home saves a lot of money, time, and energy.
How did you come across 20four7VA?
Sherie: I heard about 20four7VA on TikTok while searching for a company that would accept applicants with no VA experience like me.
Someone made a review about companies like 20four7VA, so I tried, and luckily, I got accepted here.
What are the top benefits of working with 20four7VA?
Sherie:
- Great work setup
- Well-managed payroll
- On-time weekly payments
- Approachable 20four7VA managers
- Opportunity for bonuses, leaves, and performance-based rate increases
- Free training/upskilling
What are your long-term goals, and how do you see your current role contributing to those goals?
Sherie: My long-term goal is to see myself happy and thriving here at 20four7VA. My current role is already an answered prayer!
Our QA manager and all the other managers here at 20four7VA are approachable and understanding. My tasks are well within my knowledge and skills. All these things are well aligned with my long-term goals in this industry.
What are your top 3 remote work tips?
Sherie:
- Have a backup internet and portable power station to work smoothly even during a power or internet outage
- Take advantage of your breaks to eat healthy food or clear your mind. This way, you won’t feel suffocated or overwhelmed at home. Your home should ALWAYS be your safe space.
- If you ever feel like you’re not in work mode, try pampering yourself. Put on a nice outfit or wear your favorite lipstick. It can boost your energy at work!
What skill would you want to learn, and why?
Sherie: I would like to learn more about Excel. I am always amazed by people who have mastered this skill. It would be great to excel at Excel!
Give us a hot take about being a VA
Sherie: People believe being a VA is an easy-peasy job. They think that being a VA means automatically earning a lot.
The reality is that it takes dedication, hard work, and talent to succeed in this role and unlock many long-term opportunities.
What do you do to unwind after work?
Sherie: After work, I usually browse social media, watch a movie or TV series, or listen to manifestation songs by Ashley Sienna or Ariana Grande.
Longer breaks are also essential, especially when you work from home. Consider setting up a travel fund, then book that flight or go on that much-awaited trip. You deserve it! Work-life balance is important for virtual assistants.
Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Sherie: I was surprised and flattered to have been asked to share my story! I’m an introvert. But these questions are fun to answer! They’ve helped me open up and reflect on myself.
