20four7VA Receives WOSB Certification From the Small Business Association
20four7VA was recently awarded another meaningful certification, this time from the Small Business Association (SBA).
20four7VA is excited and honored to announce that it has received the Women-owned Small Business (WOSB) certification from the Small Business Administration or SBA.
“We share the SBA’s mission to support small businesses and entrepreneurial endeavors, including women-owned businesses,” says Catherine vanVonno, President and CEO of 20four7VA. “This is why we’re especially honored to receive the WOSB certification from the agency.”
What is the WOSB certification?
Businesses awarded with the WOSB certification must meet these primary requirements:
- an eligible small business
- at least 51% owned by and controlled by women who are also U.S. citizens
- have women who manage daily operations and make long-term decisions
Aside from meeting these three basic requirements, eligible businesses must create a profile and submit an application via SBA’s online certification platform. Those who go through the meticulous application process and are awarded a WOSB certification are then eligible to join the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Program.
What is the Women-Owned Small Business Federal Program?
The U.S. Small Business Administration created the WOSB Federal Program to help level the playing field for WOSBs and economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses (EDWOSBs). The Federal Government is considered the largest customer for products and services in the United States. Setting aside a portion of contracting opportunities for certified WOSBs and EDWOSBs, not only addresses underrepresentation in various industries but provides better opportunities for women owners to grow their businesses.
